Contour mapCompton Road is a Victorian terrace situated on a ridge which runs north west from the centre of Brighton on England's south coast. It forms the western skyline for Preston Park and Fiveways and can be seen from a large part of the city.

The houses were built in 1895 for railway managers. On one side they have 'butterfly' roofs which are accessed through a hatch. It is possible to walk down the length of the street on the flat rooftops and enjoy a panoramic view of Brighton.

Six translucent projection screens twice the height of the chimneys (about 16 feet) have been erected on the roofs. They span twelve houses (about 200 feet). The projectors are in houses opposite linked to a central mixing unit. The fabric screens move in the wind creating a natural dynamic.
